18 People have finished the 2014 Iditarod Great Race. Aliy Zirkle finishing in second place losing to Dallas Seavey by only 2 mins!!. 8days 13hours 6mins and 41second Aliy and her dogs went threw the most dangerous places in Alaska racing there hardest!. She was so close but she did set a personal record. That is second place 3 years in a row for Aliy. Congrats Aliy and to everybody else!

The race is almost over!! Ally Zirkle is in 2nd place. Her and Jeff King have only 2 more check points to go! Safety and Nome. Which means less than 100 miles to go for Ally! Will she be able to catch Jeff or not? Every one in the race has used there 24 hour and 8 hour rest. Ally is working with 11 dogs. Hopefully Ally will be able to pull out a win or that will be second place three years in  row.
 

Aliy Zirkle completed her 24 hour rest but she didn't let it slow her down because she is in first place!!! She is the only racer to have checked in to Galena and is resting there now. Galena is 329 miles away from the starting point. She has 13 checkpoints left to go. In the last two days she has passed three check points. At one of those check points she had to leave one of her dogs behind. Aliy is left with 14 dogs.   

Today, (3-5-14) Aliy Zirkle is in 9th place. she is resting at Takotna. So far she has lost one of her dogs leaving her with 15. She hasn't used her 8hour or 24 hour rest yet. Go ALIY!!   

44yr Old Aliy Zirkle grew up in New Hampshire. She has raced in the Iditarod every year since 200l. The last two years she has finished second. Her best time is 9days 5hours 29mins and 10sec, which she set in 2012. She is currently in 5th place, resting at the Rainy Pass.
